Relaxing Into Synchronicity

There are moments when we relax easily and naturally such as when we experience something we consider to be beautiful - a sunset, a flower, music, a moment with someone we love. The mind stops and there is a synchronicity.
Synchronicity is being in tune with ourselves and with life beyond our usual mindsets. There is a deep 'yes' to what is happening. At first, moments of relaxing naturally can be recognised, moments when we relax beyond the mind and are fully present, for example, when you out in nature or feel the touch of a loved one. You can see more examples on the Read page.
Moments of synchronicity are often misunderstood and overlooked. This is because we tend to make the trigger responsible for the good feeling. For example, if you are looking at the ocean and you feel relaxed, you might automatically make the ocean responsible for your relaxation rather than recognising that the ocean is just the trigger. The feeling of peace and spaciousness that gets triggered is actually your natural state. Understanding that through your own experience dissolves dependency on triggers for the internal experience although it's still nice to enjoy them. :-)
It is really helpful to notice moments of synchronicity. When you recognise them, they increase. You're also getting to know what you have a natural affinity for, what helps you to be in tune and fully present, resting in your heart and being. Once you are familiar with this inner space in quiet moments, it gets easier to rest in it during more challenging situations.
In synchronicity, you open to natural wisdom. You start feeling more peace, more compassion. Life has a new depth and beauty. You are naturally of benefit to yourself and others.
When do you experience moments of synchronicity?

Here's a bit of what I wrote in my journal today: "Beginning to see the distinction between the emotions of Synchronicity and anti-Synchronicity. Learning to stay present in Synchronicity with all of Existence. What a light-hearted, open, alive place to be! Nothing different about what I DO each hour and each day, but boy! what a different feeling!"
Yesterday, I found I was running those anti-Synchronicity songs (“Je n’aurais pas le temps”, Michel Fugain; “J’arrive”, Jacques Brel) around in my head in a close loop, so that my head was always locked into that dark, heavy, habitual negative view of the world. Now I can switch the tape off and get really PRESENT - for what seems like the first time for ages, maybe since ever! And that's were the difference between the two comes in - I know all the anti-Synchronicity factors are still out there and I'm not putting my head in the sand, but now they are in the background of my consciousness, instead of oppressively dominating the foreground.

I really appreciate your report, Alan, and encourage you to continue your exploration. For example, you may like to inquire into the nature of synchronicity. A small hint ... is it an emotion? ... or not? :-)

No, Synchronicity is NOT an emotion. It is not even a state of mind. Synchronicity is a state of BEING.
However, its negative shadow, ANTI-Synchronicity, IS a state of mind, which DOES generate emotions. Anti-Synchronicity is where all the negative, harmful actions, thoughts, beliefs, prejudices stem from - all the cruelty, racism, mysogyny, xenophobia, wars, terrorism, greed, intolerance, destruction of nature - ultimately perhaps destruction of the planet.
What if all of humankind could operate from Synchronicity? John Lennon said it all in "Imagine". No, he's "not the only one"... but will the world ever "live as one"? And Bett Midler "From a distance you look like my friend, Even though we are at war. From a distance, I just cannot comprehend What all this fighting is for."
So the NEXT question will have to be "Why is Anti-Synchronicity so dominant in our world?" Any answers, any solutions, please?

This concept of "Synchronicity" is new to me and very powerful - seeing the distinction between Synchronicity and it's dark shadow, anti-Synchronicity, has lifted a veil for me. It brings to mind the lines from The Rubayyat
"There was a door to which I found no key, There was a veil past which I could not see." As Virginia (my wife) says, the "key" is to NAME IT! Once you have named it, you give it substance, which allows it to be looked at.

You may know already that the original meaning of the Ancient Greek word ‘apocalypse’ is ‘the lifting of the veil’.

So, following up on my thoughts of 22 Jan.... Synchronicity is a state if BEING, yet I've realised that from Synchronicity does flow an emotion ... it is Love! So the question I asked yesterday "Why is there so much anti-synchronicity about?" might be answered by Michael Leunig:...
There are only two feelings, Love and fear;
There are only two languages, Love and fear:
There are only two activities, Love and fear:
There are only two motives, two procedures,
Two frameworks, two results, Love and fear.
Love and fear.
If that is true, my question above leads to another: "why is there so much FEAR around?"
I guess the Love we are talking about is a single, simple emotion that encompasses everything. In contrast, there are a multitude of opportunities to experience fear, all leading to self-protection manifesting in those hideous things we see in the world that I listed yesterday - I think they all stem from FEAR.

With last night's breakthrough, I think I might have come to the logical end of my exploration of Synchronicity... My question yesterday was "why is there so much FEAR?". It struck me that this is the ultimate expression of the Tragedy of the Commons. "We can all live in harmony and there is no need to fight" (Bett Midler, From a Distance) only as long as everyone accepts that the price of harmony and peace is that everyone must play the game for the common good. As soon as someone tries to sneak an extra sheep into the paddock, or to fence off an extra bit of the Commons, or filtch some extra water from the creek, trust is gone and the system collapses. And once trust is gone, it is gone forever. Once trust and harmony are gone, the only atlernative, so it seems, becomes "look out for Number One." Then the world of "anything goes" that we see around us seems to be inevitable. Everything from dumping an old mattress in the laneway in the middle of the night, to cutting off the fingers of women who wear nail polish. Everything ugly in the world, I am concluding, has flowed ultimately from the fear that has resulted from Tragedy of the Commons.

These are significant points so I may respond more fully later in a web event. In the meantime ...
Many people hang out only in the ‘usual level of mind’ which contains accumulated knowledge, fixed beliefs, positions and attitudes. The more identified we are with this, the more destructive our behaviour is. When we look into this in ourselves from openness, understanding can come. For example, when we get cross with someone, instead of rationalizing it, we can look more deeply into our experience to get to what is happening rather than what seems to be happening.
In this way, we go beyond the ‘usual mind’ and are fully present. A new dimension of being opens up and many of the issues that stem the ‘usual mind’ dissolve. Love emanates as a quality of being. Fear is the absence of that love and, as you say, drives much of human behaviour. Every day, we can watch the news and see the effects of being caught in that usual level of the mind and the futility of trying to solve problems from within it. We can see it in ourselves too. Only clear awareness and love will bring what we long for in our personal lives and for humanity.
