Opening To Synchronicity
Synchronicity is 'being in tune'. Often our lives are busy and it's easy to get 'out of tune'. At first, synchronicity is a knack. It's a shift in consciousness. Once we start paying attention to it and allowing space for it, we realize how natural it is. Once we have the knack, our capacity for being in synchronicity goes deeper and deeper. It is an amazing adventure of discovery.
Everyone has experienced synchronicity. It happens particularly easily and when we experience something we consider to be beautiful - a sunset, a flower, music, a moment with someone we love. Something touches a chord in us, the mind stops and we fall in tune with the present moment. It can happen at the completion of a big project, sipping a cup of tea or during a focused activity like rock-climbing or cycling. You are fully present but not necessarily thinking. This is not the same as spacing out which involves drifting away from the present moment. Similarly, when addictions are relied on to 'relax', there is also drifting away from the present moment.
Around moments of synchronicity, we are often more focused on the outer object or activity and tend to pin any good feelings or sense of wellbeing on that. However, we can start to bring our attention more inside and realize that the outer situation is just the trigger for our inner experience. In short, it helps to wake up our natural beingness, 'in-tuneness' which we're calling synchronicity. It is available in any moment and in any situation.
At first, it is easier to get familiar with synchronicity in simple, relaxed situations. Then we can move on to more challenging situations, for example, if someone criticizes our work, pushes in front of us or if the body is sick. By paying attention to what is out of tune, not in synchronicity, we can start to let go of fixed beliefs about ourselves and life, old attitudes and habits. We can transform emotional patterns that give rise to particular behaviours.
In synchronicity, we have access to inner guidance, peace, love, joy and creativity. We can pay attention to synchronicity and allow more space for it, wherever we are, whoever we are with, whatever we are doing. It feels wonderful and it brings great benefits for ourselves and others.
